Reaction system of acetylene ,Ammonia and water vapor on heating for varying periods under wetting drying conditions of primitive sea in presence and absence of Montmorillonite clay with or without divalent cations showed the formation of purine and pyrimidine bases in aprreciable ammount.Formation of nucleic acid bases seem to depend on the duration of heating as well as on the presence and absence of Montmorillonite clay in presence and absence of divalent cations.
