Details

Heteropolyacids as Highly Efficient and Green Catalysts Applied in Organic Transformations introduces heteropolyacids (HPAs) as promising candidates for use as green catalysts. This book initially presents an overview of chemistry of HPAs, including the history of their discovery and applications, systematic classifications, solubility, coordination and binding chemistry, isomerization, stability, redox activity, acidic properties, basicity, skeleton structure, structure types, self-assemblage, surface area, electrochemical behavior, methods of investigation, and characterization. Other sections present and compare the applications of HPAs as homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts.

The book provides readers with a basic-to-advanced range of knowledge on how useful and green HPAs can be used for use as catalysts in organic transformations and even the synthesis of complex organic molecules.

Majid M Heravi was born in 1952 in Mashhad, Iran. He received his B. Sc. degree from the National University of Iran in 1975 and his M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees from Salford University, England in 1977 and 1980, respectively. He completed his doctoral thesis under the supervision of the late Jim Clarck in Salford University, England. He started his career as a research fellow in Daroupakhsh (a pharmaceutical company) in 1981 Tehran, Iran and joined as an assistant professor to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran in 1983, and was promoted to associate professor in 1993 and full professor in 1997. In 1999 he moved to Alzahra University of Tehran, Iran as professor of chemistry where he still works. He has previously been a visiting professor at UC Riverside, California, USA and Hamburg University, Hamburg, Germany. His research interests focus on heterocyclic chemistry, catalysis, organic methodology and green synthetic organic chemistry. He has published more than 850 ISI cited papers, including reviews and 12 chapters in Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry, as well as two books with Elsevier. Fatemeh F. Bamoharram is a professor in Azad University, Mashhad Branch, Iran. She received her BSc degree from Birjand University in Iran in 1993 and her MSc and PhD degrees from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, in 1997 and 2003, respectively. She started her work as an assistant professor in Azad University, Mashhad Branch, Iran, in 2003. She was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and to full professor in 2014. Her research activity is focused on the chemistry, synthesis and applications of heteroplyacids as green solid acid catalysts in organic transformations. Recently, she worked on synthesis of nanostructures based in HPAs and their applications as effective photocaralysts. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in ISI journals and presented more than 180 papers at national and international conferences. In addition to teaching she is engaged in research focused on HPAs from different points of view.
