This book is prepared for those interested in high- resolution vertical seismic profiling or deep downhole testing for site investigation or in search of underground reservoirs of gas, oil, water, mining or deep repository for waste treatment. Powerful vibratory source is utilized for deep signal penetration, site-specific testing parameters are recommended for high-quality source signals, wavelet response is explored for high-resolution velocity profiles, new correction method is introduced for disorientation of receiver tool, and smear zone theory is proposed for measurements near layer boundaries or within thin layers.
