Himalayan Musk Deer in Manaslu Conservation Area, Nepal

The Himalayan musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster) is an endangered species under IUCN categories and mentioned in the appendix I of the CITES. This species occurs at least in 13 countries of south Asia, east Asia, southeast Asia and eastern Russia including Nepal. Musk deer is patchily distributed in the mountainous region of Nepal. It is greatly suffering from poaching for its musk pod. The book contains the detail description about the status, distribution, habitat ecology and major conservation issues of the Himalayan musk deer based on the research in Manaslu conservation area of western Nepal. Besides these the book will provide the valuable information about the vegetation composition of musk deer habitat including best conservation recommendation. Therefore the book is highly valuable for the wildlife scientists and academicians across the globe.

Mr. Ashok Subedi has obtained his M.Sc. degree in Forestry from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Currently he is working as a conservation officer in National Trust for Nature Conservation, Annapurna Conservation Area Project, Nepal.
