Histological study of intestine of broilers (vencobb) in Mymensingh District
Details
A number of 4 broilers of 21 days of age were used in this study. Microscopic sections were cut at 6µ thickness using a rotary microtome. The sections of intestine were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin stain. The intestine of broilers was composed of tunica mucosa, tunica submucosa, tunica muscularis and tunica serosa. The epithelial lining the villi and crypts of the duodenum was a single layer of tall columnar cells of three types, the chief or main epithelial cells. Tunica submucosa was a thin layer of connective tissue and elastic fibre separating the muscularis extema from the muscularis mucosae. The tunica muscularis of duodenum in broiler was consisted of thick inner circular and poorly developed longitudinal layer. The tunica serosa was consisted of loose connective tissues with blood vessels, huge amount of blood vessels and a layer of mesothelium. The structure of jejunum was almost identical to that of the other segments of the intestine, but the villi were shorter and wider than that of the duodenum. The villi of cecum were shorter and narrower than that of the ileum. Villi of colon were shorter and wider than that of the small intestine.
