Historiographic Metafiction in Herzog

Saul Bellow won Nobel Prize for literature in 1976. This paper wants to Herzog is a protagonist and academic character and he presents his identity and the society in Bellow s novel. The novel is about the crisis in the life of protagonist and inspite of suffering during his life, he can overcome his problem and survives a phase of disintegration. Sinthomatique writing in Saul Bellow s Herzog in the form of letter-writing that is related to the Lacanian theory and considers asystem of conscious digging for jouissance. Ultimately, Herzog proves his social responsibility.
