History, soccer, and agriculture: transformations in the game and in rural areas

This book discusses the reasons behind the transformation/adaptation from outdoor soccer to indoor soccer in the municipality of Marechal Cândido Rondon between 1980 and 1995. Focusing on the group of rural workers/farmers who became urban workers and those who remained in the countryside, a historical study was conducted using oral sources, comparing soccer and Swiss soccer, emphasizing customs and sociability. Soccer, understood as a custom, allowed for important considerations related to the dynamics of the group studied. This book may be of interest to those who attribute relevance to group dynamics, history, and sociology; in short, to professionals in the humanities in general and to all those who seek to expand their knowledge with a focus on sociability, customs, resistance, rural exodus, soccer, etc.
