Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. HMS Vengeance was a 38-gun fifth rate frigate of the Royal Navy. She had previously sailed as the Vengeance as part of the French Navy before her capture. She had fought an engagement with the American frigate USS Constellation during the Quasi-War which had left both ships heavily damaged, but the Vengeance had managed to escape. During the French Revolutionary Wars, the British HMS Seine hunted Vengeance down and captured her after a sharp action. Accounts are divided as to her eventual fate, but she may have served for several years as a prison ship.
