Homelessness support in Dublin

Homelessness has been a major socio-political problem in Dublin for many years. The facilities that care for this clientele are bursting at the seams, the city already accommodates more than a thousand families in hotels and B&Bs, and yet more than a hundred people still live on the cold streets every day in the capital of the Emerald Isle alone. DEPAUL is one of the organisations working worldwide with men, women and children who have been marginalised and are homeless. As an intern, I gained insights into the world of fascinating men and women who have lost everything due to severe misfortunes and have now found a new home at DEPAUL's Sundial House.

At a facility for people affected by homelessness and alcohol addiction, I learned a great deal and was able to deepen my knowledge of Dublin's housing policy background and the concepts of harm reduction and low-threshold social work, as well as working with unmotivated clients.
