Hospital-acquired infections in the ICUs of teaching hospitals

Intensive care units (ICUs) are places for the recovery and treatment of critically ill patients who require specialised care. Because they usually have multiple comorbidities and serious injuries, these patients tend to develop numerous hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), which have a significant impact on the morbidity and mortality of the affected individual, as well as on the care plan of the specialised professionals in these ICUs.
