How Liberated are the Tribals of Chotanagpur? is an STL Thesis. The author himself is a tribal from Chotanagpur. The book critically examines the long history of socio-political and economic subjugation and exploitation of the tribals of Chotanagpur through the methods of socio-political and cultural analysis. It discusses the contemporary internal and external oppressive elements in the tribal society of Chotanagpur and highlights the liberative contributions of the Christian missionaries. It also traces the liberative elements in the tribal myths and stories as well as the Christian Scripture. In the last part of the thesis, the author proposes certain concrete steps for the integral liberation of the tribals.

Jerome Kerketta, SJ obtuvo su STL en la Universidad de Santa Clara, California, EE.UU.. Al terminar su Licenciatura, fue destinado a enseñar en el Vidyajyoti College of Theology, Delhi, India. Después de enseñar durante cuatro años en Vidyajyoti, ahora es formador en el Centro del Instituto Regional de Espiritualidad San Pablo, Padanpur, India.
