HTTP/2 - Improvements and Impact
Details
HTTP is one of the most spread protocols on the application layer and thus, the carrier for the triumph of the Internet. The immense importance was strengthened with RFC 2616 or better known as the specification for HTTP/1.1. Nowadays, HTTP is indispensable, especially when considering the development of the recent years and the growth of the device variety. As a result, HTTP has to deal with requirements and applications for which it was not designed for. This makes HTTP appearing sluggish and outdated. HTTP/2 is the ambitious approach to modernize and generally renew an antiquated protocol, without losing the semantic and consequently not threatening the compatibility.
