This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Human-Centered Software Engineering, HCSE 2012, held in Toulouse, France, in October 2012.The twelve full papers and fourteen short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from various submissions. Peter Forbrig is a professor of software engineering in the Department of Computer Science, University of Rostock, Germany. He has a Ph.D. in mathematics and an advanced degree in computer science. During recent years he has been involved in software engineering projects, with a focus on pattern-based programming and the Unified Modeling Language UML.
