Hydrogels and degraded soils of the Brazilian semiarid region

The book provides in a simple and objective language, pertinent information on a major problem that harms the environment today: the degradation of natural resources, especially soils. The material consists of a bibliographic review of the topics in question, addressing issues such as: soil degradation due to salinity (recurrent in the semi-arid region), classification of soils with salinity problems, alternatives for recovering areas degraded by salinity and the use of hydrogel (superabsorbent polymer) as a conditioner to be used in such circumstances.
