Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Ovarian Cancer

The manuscript reviews the main therapeutic strategies in advanced stage and relapsed ovarian cancer, focusing on the role and benefits of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. In the first part of the manuscript the main biological characteristics of advanced satge ovarian cancer as much as the most common surgical procedures are presented. In the second part authors' attention is focused on the utility, rationale and technique of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

Nicolae Bacalbasa graduated from "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest Romania and obtained his PhD in the same university in the field of surgical oncology. He works currently in the field of general and gynecologic surgical oncology with a special interest in advanced stage ovarian and cervical cancer.
