Hypocholestremic Effect of Polyherbal Supplementation on Poultry

Egg is a rich source of all the essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins but it also contains about 200-250mg of cholesterol and is considered to be a major source of dietary cholesterol. Polyherbal preparation containing Emblica officinalis (Amla), Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) and Tinospora cordifolia (Giloy) on dietary supplementation showed a significant hypocholestremic effect (P0.05) in poultry serum and eggs. This preparation can be effectively used for reducing lipid contents in egg yolk for human consumption with the reduced the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
