Details

This book fills the gap in the field of anti-icing by providing a comprehensive introduction to anti-icing materials and their technology. Additionally, the contents are important guidance for researchers, engineers, and graduate and undergraduate students. Icing can cause malfunctions or serious performance degradation in outdoor facilities, such as transportation and energy equipment, resulting in significant economic losses and even loss of life. With the rapid development of the aviation and renewable energy industries, minimizing anti-icing has become an urgent scientific problem worldwide. Traditional thermal and mechanical de-icing methods are used to prevent or inhibit ice formation, but they consume a huge amount of energy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new passive anti-icing technologies. In the last decade, icephobic materials have received increasing attention as commonly used passive anti-icing materials.

Introduces the anti-icing technology, which includes icing hazards and icing mechanisms Describes interaction between solid-liquid interface and transition from solid-liquid interface to solid-ice interface Elaborates anti/de-icing technology coupled with active anti-icing methods

Autorentext

Dr. Prof. Yizhou Shen is currently working at the College of Materials Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA). He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in June 2016, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

As the "National High-level Talent Special Support Program" young talent, and the first batch of national " Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program" talent, Dr. Shen's current research topic is to develop the high-efficiency anti-icing/icephobic materials, which mainly involves the relation with wettability, the underlying mechanisms, and application potentials, he has presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program, a frontier innovation project, a major national special project, and the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Distinguished Talent Cultivation Fund, etc.
