The book is an attempt to explore the image of family in the select works of Meena Alexander. It explores the family in immigrant context critically analyzing the novels viz., Nampally Road and Manhattan Music. Alexander stressed in her works on the issues like rise of neo-feudalism, gender issues, identity crisis, feeling of alienation, immigrant stress and trauma, cultural hybridity, social turmoil, pain, violence, race, class, ethnicity, nomadism, multicultural and Diaspora.
