Immunomodulatory Effects of Melatonin

Melatonin is a neurohormone synthesized in the pineal gland during the dark period in all species, including humans, it was found that melatonin have powerful immunomodulatory effect that useful in the improvement of the resistance of the biological system against infectious burden; in addition to the synergistic effect of melatonin on the antimicrobial effects of antibiotics. The book explain the mechanism of action of melatonin as immunomodulator and how to work to increase the immunity against bacterial infection and reduce the time of wounds healing through modulation the immunity factors.
