Details

This book discusses how human resistance to infectious diseases can be increased by stimulating the immune system. Newly developed vaccines are an important part of recent findings.

Klappentext

The present book focuses on the immunotherapeutic modalitiesrelevant for the induction of enhanced resistance againstviral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. New ap-proaches to vaccination and application of cytokines in in-fectious diseases are succinctly described. Some novel immu-nomodulators and their biological properties as well as cli-nicalstudies are presented. Effective enhancement of hostdefence with a vast array of immunomodulatory agents and re-combinant cytokines, both in normaland in immunocompromisedstates, is shown to be an attractive approach. It can func-tion as an adjunct to present modalities for prevention andcontrol of infectious diseases as well as tumors.
