Impact evaluation of youth agropastoral entrepreneurship programme

This dissertation assesses the impact of the youth agropastoral entrepreneurship programme on the production and income of beneficiaries in a context of persistent unemployment and youth precariousness. The state, often with the help of donors, has set up a series of programmes and projects to promote employment for young people since the HIPC completion point was reached in 2006. However, it is difficult to know whether these instruments improve the living conditions of young Cameroonians. This study provides evidence on the AEP- youth from a field survey conducted in September 2019 on 540 young people who solicitate AEP-youth treatment, 247 of whom actually benefited from the programme while 293 have used it but have not yet received treatment. In view of the difficulties presented by experimental methods (attrition, high costs, ethical problems, etc.) we have opted for quasi-experimental methods, particularly the PSM. The result show that the average earnings in treatment group are 20919.93 Fcfa higher with respect to the comparison group. This difference is statistically significant at the level of 5%.
