Transformation is a marked change in the form of nature or appearance. The increase in the land use change by the multiple local, public and private authorities allows the integration of residential land use with the commercial land use. Land Use Transformation refers to the change in Land Use within a particular period of time i.e. in terms of spatial expansion, residential area, commercial area, mixed land use, demography etc. It may also be termed as the growth or the development of a particular area within a particular period of time. Transformation may be positive or negative. Positive transformation may include the economic growth of a particular area where as negative transformation may result in traffic congestion, overcrowding, overgrowth in a particular area, town, city etc. This study has tried to identify the impact of Land-Use Transformation in Lajpat Nagar from 2001-15. Lajpat Nagar comes under the popular shopping markets in New Delhi. The objective of this study is to help one to understand the various indicators resulting in the impacts of land use change on various aspects such as infrastructure, demography, economy etc. that may be either positive or negative.

Mr. Akhil Chhibber is an Urban Planner with Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from SPA Vijayawada(2015-17). He did Bachelors of Planning from Amity University Haryana(2011-15). He has worked in Jammu Development Authority(JDA) and Delhi Development Authority(DDA) as an internship Trainee.
