Impact of Recovery Schools on Academic Success and Continued Sobriety

Recovery High Schools are designed for students committed to achieving success in both education and substance abuse recovery. This qualitative study examines recovery school effectiveness in terms of student and faculty perceptions, using interviews, focus groups, and student records examination. Using a grounded theory and case study approach, the research provides surprising and critical findings for developing and sustaining a successful recovery school.

She has served as a Teacher, School Psychologist, Principal, and Executive Director. Dr. Wornson is the former Director of Sobriety High School.
