Impact of teacher-learner relationships on learners' academic success

Teacher-learner relationships play a vital role in the trajectory of leaners' academic success and in social development. Learners develop positive self-esteem, strive to excel, show acceptable manners and communication skills through the relationships they have with their teachers. Teachers who foster positive relationships with their learners create classroom environment to be more conducive to learning. Teacher-learner relationships can avoid behavioural problems of learners which will give teachers more time to conduct their lessons rather than spending much time in keeping order and disciplining learners in the class. Researchers reveals that learners who show outstanding achievements are those who are close to their teachers. Learners who do not foster good relationships with teachers show unsatisfactory academic performance and have no direction in life; they have no inspiration of what they would like to become professionally. This book therefore provides strategies for developing and maintaining teacher-learner relationships in schools. This book targets mainly teachers and learners for establishing strong effective interpersonal relationships.
