Impact of Water Quality on Community Health in South West England
Details
Community health remains a topic of concern for academics, health professionals and general public. Water quality has also been repeatedly given significant importance due to current legislation governing water quality standards and also the significant impact water has on our daily lives. Water quality has a direct impact on community health through the usage of water for domestic, commercial or recreational purposes. This book unravels the perceptions of a local community following an E. coli outbreak and deciphers whether there remains any effect on the community at present as a result of the outbreak. It also features insights into linkages between community health and bathing water quality from the perspective of a local campaign group. Additionally, strong evidence for positive measures currently undertaken to avoid contamination of recreational water facilities by E. coli particularly in the Devon area of England were observed, in light of newly revised Bathing Waters Directive standards. This book is designed specifically with the reader in mind and can appeal to leaders, professionals, students and people from diverse backgrounds.
