Implementation of Design Out Maintenance: A Case Study reflects the use of DOM strategy to increase the onsite availability of hot forging machines. The maintenance techniques like design-out maintenance can greatly aid the maintenance engineer to remove or minimize the cause of breakdown maintenance. The result can be a reduction in downtime and maximizing plant utilization with efficient and greater availability of the machine. In heavy machines like the forging press, all the parts should be checked and maintained regularly for the working of the machine safely and efficiently. If a part breaks periodically and the part is repaired and replaced without knowing the root cause of the failure, the result of the breakdown failure will be a recurrence.
