IMPLEMENTATION OF MIL-STD-1553 BUS PROTOCOL USING AVR MICROCONTROLLERS

To design a wired communication system using MIL-STD- 1553 half-duplex bus protocol having a common multiplexed bus for as many remote terminals as required for developing sensor networks capable of performing remote sensing of Physical or Industrial parameters (Temperature, Pressure, Level etc.) by featuring the core characteristics of the specific hardware particularly made for this protocol which is very costly & not easily available everywhere. A cheaper solution (about 100 times) to this issue is implemented with the help of AVR microcontrollers and the PC-based HMI of the system is designed using LabVIEW software. Although the complete features of this protocol are not implemented but an effort is made to give an inexpensive solution through this design.

Laeeque Ahmed Siddiqui was born in Pakistan in 1988. After completion of his B.E.(Electronics) from NED University, he worked on several challenging projects besides doing job. This project was a result of his efforts with contributions from Osama Siddiqui, Saad Ali & Ali Umair. He Recognizes his achievements a fruit of prayers of his parents.
