Implementing Triage Process to Minimize Waiting Time for Hospitals
Details
Knowing patient illness and pain level when arriving at a hospital is a key factor for life saving. Modern hospitals do not treat patients based on arrival time, rather on illness level. That is because saving a patient's life is a matter of time, therefore leaving patients wait for treatment without knowing and identifying their illness level may result in life threatening especially for patients who experience critical health conditions. Design for Six-Sigma is an effective way of creating a process that is focused on customer needs. In this book different performance measures have been employed to evaluate the hospital's Emergency Department performance before and after the triage process such as length of stay and waiting time.
