Importance of Logistics in Supply Chain operations

Although they are different, supply chain and logistics are related. Supply chain management includes procurement, production, warehousing, and distribution, as well as all activities from raw materials to the final customer. Specifically, logistics is concerned with the effective flow and storage of products along the supply chain, encompassing order fulfilment, inventory control, and transportation. Managing the complete flow of products, data, and funds among a network of companies (suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers) is the responsibility of supply chain management (SCM). Moving and storing resources, information, and items throughout the supply chain is the main focus of logistics.
