Importance of process mapping for implementing a system

There is currently a demand for the implementation of management systems in practically all organisational environments, whether private or public, in the government, commercial or civil society sectors in general. This reality is more latent today due to the intense need that managers have in the decision-making process, which needs to be increasingly assertive, both at a strategic, tactical and operational level. This demand needs to be assessed as a project of great magnitude, as it involves many resources, including human, financial, material and technological. That said, managers need to adopt a holistic approach in order to maximise the investment made in this type of project. This paper therefore highlights the importance of process mapping for the implementation of an integrated management system, with the main objective of explaining that existing activities need to be assessed and that others will emerge as necessary for the use of an ERP system, thus seeking to mitigate possible problems and demonstrate the importance of this in the management of the organisation.
