Quantum cascade lasers are tiny mid-infrared sources
of light which can be designed to laser at a chosen
wavelength between 4 and 12 microns. Their
development has caused significant simultaneous
research in mid-infrared spectroscopy systems. This
book describes how comprehensive modeling is used to
design high performance quantum cascade lasers.
Experimental results from the designed lasers are
presented in applications including astrochemistry,
electronic countermeasures, and medicine.

Autorentext

Scott S. Howard received his Ph.D. from the Department ofElectrical Engineering at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ in2008. His research at Princeton focused on high-performancequantum cascade lasers. Dr. Howard is currently a post-doctoralresearch associate in Applied and Engineering Physics at CornellUniversity.
