The annual increase in population has also resulted to increase in the amount of generated waste every year and become one of major problems confronting Metropolitan Kumasi. infrastructure services such as waste management and sewerage, does not cover some parts of Ayigya. among such problems are communal containers being located at unsuitable distances from houses thereby providing services only for those located near the main road, and lack of skip sites. these problems might be due to the distance and the laziness to walk to waste collection points or skip sites. As the result, they usually end up as illegal dumps on streets, open spaces and waste lands. This research is looking at the sanitation behavior of the community in Ayigya neighborhood, how do people demonstrate their sanitation behavior to conduct solid waste collection. The study aimed at investigating the factor that influence the changing behavior of the people in Ayigya towards solid waste collection. furthermore, this research also can identify the actors to support solid waste collection scheme and enhance sanitation behavior in Ayigya neighborhood.
