Details

India is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. However, high economic growth is accompanied by social stratification and widening economic disparity between states. This book illustrates some important aspects of underdevelopment and the process by which the underclass is left behind by focusing on the country's most neglected regions.

This book presents a series of empirical analyses of different aspects of development in North India, mainly the state of Bihar . These surveys are often combined with analysis of secondary data in an effort to provide a broader picture of each of the issues examined. the volume does contribute to ongoing debates on a number of important aspects of inclusive development in Bihar, and as such is a useful complement to the existing literature.
