Inclusive Social Entrepreneurship

This comprehensive research reveals the situation of the youths with special needs in the public and private Special Education schools in Legazpi City, Philippines. It underscores the vocational transition programs and their outcome. For youths with special needs to be employed requires inclusive hiring. Thus, the full support of both the government and private agencies is imperative. With the creation of a social enterprise model, youths with exceptional skills and talents may have the chance to become entrepreneurs. This will pave the way to creating employers and employing other youths with special needs. This book speaks about how an inclusive society can help PWDs to be empowered and to realize their true potential. The author envisions a better future, and to fill the gap that was deep-seated since the 18th century - the seclusion of mentally-challenged individuals in society.

Dr. Elizabeth E. Echano-Alfane is a professor of entrepreneurship and management at Bicol University. She has 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur where she empowered PWDs, farmers, out-of-school youths, and housewives. She advocates for diversity and inclusion.
