Income Zakat: Issues, Concepts, Management, Discussions and Suggestion

This book covers issues, concepts, management, findings and suggestions related to zakat. The issues discussed include the collection of income zakat amongst Muslims in Kedah has remained low despite the fact that a religious decree making it compulsory to pay income zakat was in 1997. Also, this book discusses the philosophy of zakat, legal maxim related to zakat, recipients of zakat, the obligation of paying zakat, the concept of zakat compliance, the meaning and law of income zakat, and contemporary resolutions on zakat. Discussion on zakat management includes zakat management during the Prophet (s.a.w.), the caliphates, Umayyad, Abbasid and Ottoman as well as zakat management in Malaysia. Discussions include significant factors which influence the compliance behavior of income zakat in the State of Kedah, Malaysia.
