Inculturation of the Gusii Traditional Concept of God
Details
Inculturation of the Gusii traditional concept of God is a book which discusses the missionary conception of the Gusii Traditional concept of God (Engoro). Gusii (Abagusii) is a Bantu Community from the western part of Kenya whose concept of God is as old as the first Gusii persons and is inherent among the people. In the book, it is discussed how the Euro-American missionaries who first evangelized the Abagusii did not consider the fact that before inception of Christianity in Africa, the Abagusii as other African communities had a clear concept of God. The authors suggests the Gusii traditional anthropomorphic, animal and bird images of God worth inculturation in order to make Christianity more meaningful and companionable among the Abagusii.
