Index G 1 - 10
Details
The DEAF covers the entire vocabulary (including regional variants from Anglo-Norman to Franco-Italian) of Old French texts from the earliest documents to the mid-14th century, listing all meanings and situating the material etymologically and historically in terms both of the development of the vocabulary of French and the development of the Romance languages in general.
The indexes (11,000 entries) provide access to the entire material of Volume G (g - gyri): 1. the Old French headwords and derivations with all graphic variants; 2. all etyma either generally accepted as such or figuring in the discussion on etymology; 3. all cited Romance (It., Sp., etc.) and non-Romance (Engl., Ger., etc.) word-forms including related forms and forms adopted from the French. The indexes are indispenable for users of the Dictionary, which is organized in groups of etymologically related words, as only the headwords are listed alphabetically. The marking of the scriptae also makes them suitable for dialectological studies.
