India's March Towards E-Democracy
Details
The book deals with a contemporary theme as there are no studies on the impact of information revolution on Indian politics. An attempt is made to see, how the changes which are coming in the Indian economy making it an emerging information society are influencing its politics and governments, and how politicians are reacting and adjusting to these changes The present study tries to objectively explore the changes which are coming in Indian politics and government due to the information revolution and information technology. As these changes are multidimensional which also cross borders so an attempt is made to restrict ourselves to only those changes which are the direct out come of information revolution . Media is a major agent of these changes so its role and impact on politics is also covered. Government policies regarding new developments and new laws like IT Act 2000 and RTI Act 2005 are also discussed. The changing role of the government is also analyzed in the context of new information scenario. Librarians being traditional information providers are going to play a major role in this new age. So their changing role is also discussed in the relevant context.
