Details

Indigenous knowledge has been a central feature for improving African agricultural productivity for centuries. The integration of exogenous knowledge into indigenous knowledge systems has also allowed better results on farming activities in many developing countries. However, most farmers in developing countries are not only deprived from accessing global knowledge, but they also lack opportunities to share their own knowledge. This book provides a systematic study of how knowledge management approaches and ICTs can be used to manage indigenous knowledge and introduce exogenous knowledge in the local communities for sustainable agricultural practices in developing countries with a particular focus on Tanzania. Mixed methods were used to collect data from six selected districts in Tanzania. Based on the research findings and knowledge management models, the study suggests a model that can be used to manage agricultural indigenous and exogenous knowledge in the local communities. The book is suitable for professionals in the knowledge management field, or anyone else who may be considering knowledge management in developing countries.
