Influence of a football team on a local economy

The possibility that the existence of a football team in a given location may be able to attract economic investment and improve economic performance has been the argument of government officials and leaders who advocate financial support for these teams. Based on allegations like this, from 2010 onwards, some football teams in Brazil began a movement of spatial relocation, a recent phenomenon that had the economic factor as a motivational background, and these teams were offered incentives through public subsidies or assignment of administration and economic exploitation, sometimes free of charge of public sports equipment. The book points out the possible occurrence of positive economic impacts for a municipality due to the existence of a football team and the perception that the actors involved in the process have in relation to this impact.
