Influence of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on D5 tool Steel Wear Behavior

Wear which is one of the main cause of material wastage, is an important problem associated with industrial components.In metal forming industry tools can be exposed to very complex and surface demanding conditions and require well defined tribological properties. The wear behavior associated with micro structural properties of material. My work reflect, findings for cause of wear associated with AISI D5 tool steel. Also checked conventional heat treatment and with combination of deep cryogenic treatment. The details of treatments and reason for selection also mention.For experimentation purpose tribometer used to find wear resistance, Inverted microscope used to find micro structure and Hardness of specimens was measured by using Rockwell Hardness tester. Experimentation results analyzed with graphs and for each test regression equations also produced for getting idea about their behavior.
