Influence of organic and inorganic seed treatment on Pulses

Pulses are a significant commodity crop group that provides high-quality protein to supplement cereal protein for the country's predominantly vegetarian population. Despite being the world's largest pulse crop cultivating country, India's pulse production pales in comparison to total cereal crop production. Pulses cultivation develops a mechanism to fix atmospheric nitrogen in their root nodules, allowing them to fulfil their nitrogen needs to a large extent. Seed enhancement is a well-established treatment for growing seed quality throughout the transient activation of pre-germinative metabolism that includes antioxidant functions and DNA repair process . Seed invigoration has emerged as an effective approach for increasing seed vigour and germination synchronization as well as seedling growth and field establishment under adverse environmental conditions Seed priming (Pre-sowing 3 hydration treatments of seeds) is a widely used technique to enhance seed performance, notably with respect to rate and uniformity of germination thereby enabling better crop establishment.
