Information Resources Assessment of Non-Governmental Organisations:

The study covers assessment of information resources produced over the years by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) based in Nigeria. The area of focus includes human rights, gender, violence against women, reproductive rights and health, social economic rights, and environmental rights etc. Information resources acquired comprises of books and non-book materials such as; report of projects, journals, CD-ROMs, DVD, maps, government gazettes, united nations documents, monographs, and annual reports from local and other various sources etc., information resources are made available to various categories of users, through the use of information and communication technology which, has assisted the users in accessing internet through the information retrieval system. Other tools for accessing information resources are indexes, abstracts, current awareness services and selective dissemination of information etc. However, most of the NGOs, CSOs and CBOs lacked enough funds to execute some of their programmes, this affects the volume of information resources produced, but their impact in the society is commendable.
