This book is an innovative attempt to examine the awareness and use levels of the women as regards information support programs (information products, resources, services, channels and dissemination mechanisms) initiated by various agencies, their perception about information support programs, their information source use behaviour and constraints faced by women. This book also assesses the information needs of women and identifies the existing information dissemination mechanism in the Karnataka State. Empowering women socio-economically through increased awareness as well as access to resources is a decisive step towards greater security for them. It provides a platform for every category of stakeholder to put forth their ideas to find positive measures to achieve effective and equal rights to the social class of women.

Dr.Shobha Patil is presently working as UGC Post-Doctoral Fellow(PDF) in the Department of PG Studies & Research in Library and Inf. Science, KSWU,Vijayapura. She has been awarded PhD from KSWU,Vijayapura, under the guidance of Prof.P.G.Tadasad. She has published 40 articles. She is a recipient of ILA-AG Motiwale Award for Young Professionals-2012.
