Innovating Fashion Designs from Ancient Egyptian Costumes

Ancient Egypt is one of the most studied and best known of the early Civilizations. With its great history that have survived to the present day. We can see that the majority of fashion designers now, especially those who handle theatrical fashion, start their studies of the history of fashion from ancient Egyptian civilization. We have to know that the ancient Egypt civilization will be always an important source for the fashion designers illustrations; a lot of the international fashion designers like Galliano, Zac Posen, and Alexa Adams & Flora Gill inspired some of their collections from the pharaonic clothes.The book aims to: Study the features of the Egyptian decorations, clothes and accessories and benefit from it in the innovation of new designs for the Egyptian working women, Revival the Egyptian Heritage by making designs reflects our Authenticity and Originality, Show the artistic and aesthetic values of the ancient Egyptian art, Spread the cultural and artistic awareness for ancient Egyptian art, and - Application of the modern techniques and modern design programs in the development and implementation of the designs collection.

Dr. Nessreen Elmelegy works as a Lecturer of Fashion Design in Ready-Made-Garments Dept., Faculty of Applied Arts, Damietta University. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees of "Fashion Design" from Menofia University, and her Ph.D. degree of "Fashion Design" from Menofia University and Hannover University (Sharing), Egypt - Germany.
