Innovation in Banking; How has the traditional retail banking model been affected with the implementation of internet based products and services such as ING Direct internet based financial services in the last five years as of 2012. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the technical innovation in the banking industry. The model used is based on the ING Direct banking utilizing internet and mobile technology to become a major banking player in the relatively short time. Moreover, it is a reminder that the technical innovation is constant and that in order to sustain growth and even stay in the game, banking institutions have to accept the changes and embrace the advantage that it can offer.
