Innovation und Planwirtschaft?

Innovationsblockaden und -leistungen ausgewählter Betriebe der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik und der Volksrepublik Polen stehen im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit. Außerdem werden Branchen, Kombinate und gesamtstaatliche Institutionen in den Blick genommen. Die Arbeit zeigt, dass in der DDR ein für Planwirtschaften typisches Innovationssystem existierte. Auch in der VRP existierte ein für Planwirtschaften typisches Innovationssystem, das sich allerdings punktuell von jenem der DDR unterschied.

»Innovation and Plan Economy? Technological Change in Centrally Planned Economies on the Example of the German Democratic Republic and the People´s Republic of Poland«: The focus of the work is on innovation blockades as well as achievements of selected companies in the German Democratic Republic and the People´s Republic of Poland. Sectors, combines and national institutions are also considered. The work shows that an innovation system typical of planned economies existed in the GDR as well as Poland, although they differed in certain points from each other.

Autorentext
Falk Flade studied Slavistics, East European History and Economics. His diverse activities in academia and teaching brought him to various institutions in Central and Eastern Europe. He received his Ph.D. on the subject of "energy infrastructures in the Eastern Bloc". The present field of research is the history of economy and technology in Central and Eastern Europe. As part of his habilitation, he dealt with "Modernization blockades in science and economy of the GDR and Poland". This resulted in the monograph "Innovation und Planwirtschaft? Technologischer Wandel in zentral geplanten Ökonomien am Beispiel der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik und Volksrepublik Polen".
