Insect Pests of Pigeonpea and their Integrated Management in Varanasi

Pulses are an integral part of many diets across the globe and they have great potential to improve human health, conserve our soils, protect the environment and contribute to global food security. The potential of pulses to help address future global food security, nutrition and environmental sustainability needs has been acknowledged through the UN declaration of the 2016 International Year of Pulses. Pigeonpea is an important pulse crop grown in India. Several insect pests attack this crop resulting in drastic reduction in its yield. Therefore, it is very much necessary to overcome this problem. Keeping this in view, the present book enlists the different important insect pests of pigeonpea and their control using the principles of Integrated Pest Management. The pest management techniques discussed in this book will be highly beneficial to the pigeonpea growing farmers and also to the students, researchers and extension workers.
