Dr. van Oss describes the nature of the various manifestations of hydrophobic interactions as well as of hydration pressure and analyzes the measurement of the contact angles that result when liquid droplets are deposited on flat solids. He also covers coacervation and complex coacervation, discusses the determination methods of electrokinetic potentials, and treats some of the lesser-known properties of water, such as cluster formation and the hydrophobicity of the water-air interface.
