Internal Auditing Practices in India

Internal auditing has emerged as an important discipline and excellent training ground for future management positions. In India, the auditing profession is getting a lot of importance in both public and private sectors particularly after the Enron and World Com scams. However, no comprehensive research is undertaken on its principal activity, namely internal auditing. This book, therefore, examine the internal auditing practices of companies in public and private sector in India. The book finds out the impact of different factors on effectiveness, independence and benefits of internal auditing; and detects the weaknesses in the internal control procedures in operational areas. The author's endeavour through this user friendly book is to facilitate the corporate policy makers in adoption of best internal auditing practices and increase the efficiency, effectiveness, independence, credibility and acceptability of internal auditor's recommendations on one hand; and regulatory authorities to plug off the existing loopholes in the internal audit practices on the other hand.
